Central Safe Drive Stay Alive

Background

Central Safe Drive Stay Alive (CSDSA) began in 2007 and since then has been attended by over 60,000 people at its annual roadshow.  CSDSA is an interactive experience for 4th year or higher pupils from schools and colleges in the Forth Valley area (Falkirk, Stirling & Clackmannanshire).

The Shows

  • Shown to all High School pupils in 4th year, its primary audience is 17–25-year-old, as statistics show this age group are the highest risk of being involved in an RTC
  • Attended by over 4000 young people over 5 consecutive days
  • A partnership between Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Forth Valley and the Scottish Ambulance Service
  • Recreates a road traffic collision (RTC) with interludes, where on-stage emergency professionals discuss their roles and how their organisation assists at the scene
  • On-stage speakers who have been directly or indirectly involved in an RTC. These speakers discuss their experiences and the real impact it has on their lives
  • Described as hard-hitting, an emotional rollercoaster, highly educational and inspiring
  • The focus is on speeding, consumption of drugs or alcohol then taking to the wheel, the use of mobile phones, showing off and the risks of these distractions, making the 17 - 25-year old's a higher risk group

Aim

We encourage youngsters to get behind the wheel and to enjoy the freedom and opportunities that driving can bring.  We do however highlight that taking risks can have serious life-long consequences for the people involved and their families. One mistake can occur in milliseconds…. it's real life and often life changing.

Objective

Central Safe Drive Stay Alive's main objective is to reduce injuries and fatalities in this higher risk age group.  This is achieved by educating youngsters about the importance of road safety, through its high impact annual show.
